AMD recently launched the new Ryzen 3rd gen lineup. But it seems that the current most powerful model i.e. the Ryzen 9 3950X is just an appetizer for something bigger that’s going to arrive soon. There have been new leaks on a lot of sites. All of these point towards a 64 core 128 thread Ryzen Threadripper CPU being launched real soon! The AMD 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper launch date is expected to be in quarter 4 of this year!
For the CES next year AMD is expected to showcase some other products. In March this year, AMD showed their client processor roadmap in an investors conference. The third-gen Threadripper was expected to be here by May but was postponed due to unknown reasons.
AMD 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper pricing and details
The current leaks show that AMD hasn’t given up on the ThreadRipper lineup but it has just been delayed slightly.
There will also be the X599 motherboard, it would have the same AM4 socket. However, there can be a naming conflict with Intel and hence AMD might consider a new name!
Since it’s going to be a 64 core product the pricing would definitely be on the higher side. The initial price is expected to be around $2500 to $3000. Though it might sound really pricy but consider the fact that the Intel 9980 XE is an 18 core model and costs $2000. Compared to something like that the Ryzen Threadripper definitely sounds great!
At the Taipei Computer show, AMD CEO also confirmed that the 3rd Gen Ryzen ThreadRipper hasn’t been cancelled just delayed a bit!
So guys what do you think would the third-gen ThreadRipper be an amazing product for productivity and other intensive tasks? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
