AMD’s Ryzen 5 1600 processor has been out since quite some time. But even after all these years, it’s still a good option for a lot of people as it’s cost-effective and offers 6 cores 12 threads at lucrative pricing. Word on the street is that now the Ryzen 5 1600 architecture would soon be upgraded to 12nm+ and this means that you would get more bang for the buck. The overall stability and performance/value for this product is definitely set to increase.
Yesterday, Tom’s Hardware reported that the first-generation AMD 6-core Ryzen 5 1600 was originally based on Growfont’s 14nm process and is now presented at 12nm. Now, a Reddit user claims to have recently received the AF version of Ryzen 5 1600 and tested it.
The user stated that the AF version of the Ryzen 5 1600 has a higher turbo boost frequency up to 3.7GHz, which is 100Mhz higher than the original 3.6GHz. He also said that under the load of 1-2 cores, the initial Ryzen 5 1600 CPU boost speed used to drop to 3.4GHz. But the AF version of the CPU can maintain a speed of 3.7 GHz for a longer period of time, only 200 MHz lower than the Ryzen 5 2600 CPU.
With the upgrade of the process, the heat dissipation requirement of the Ryzen 5 1600 AF version is also smaller, and the officials have also replaced the radiator with an entry-level Wraith Stealth. So there’s no copper top in the cooler but pure aluminium.
Now, the brand-new “AF” Ryzen 5 1600 has appeared on some retailers’ websites for only US $ 85, or about RMB 600. But this processor is not yet available in China. When it does arrive in Indian markets we will be the first to tell you about it and its performance, price in India etc.
