The Apple MacBook Pro had been leaking left and right since so long that we had already covered almost everything that was about to be new in this laptop! So long story short Apple launched this much-anticipated laptop today and it replaces the 15-inch laptop in their Pro lineup. The starting price is still $2399 as before. A lot of people would love that Apple has updated a lot of stuff this time around for the same price. So here’s a brief rundown of everything that’s new in this device.
Table of Contents
Apple MacBook Pro 16 inch specifications
The processor options go from 9th Gen Intel Hexacore i7 to Octa-core i9 processors. The GPU options too are much better than before i.e. the AMD Radeon Pro 5300m in the entry model and the AMD Radeon 5500m in the better model. You now get to choose from 16-64GB of 2666 Mhz DDR4 RAM.

You also get to choose between 4GB GDDR6 VRAM for the GPU or 8GB option.
The battery is now a 100wH battery. Apple claims a bump in the battery life of around 1 hour. So claimed battery life is now 11 hours! Real world figures might vary though.
You will also get a new 96watt USB C charger now. This is slightly higher than the previous 87w charger.
16 inch MacBook Pro display changes
The display form factor is the same as before. But the bezels have been reduced. This means that the new 16-inch model is fit into the same chassis as the 15-inch model. As we leaked in earlier rumours the display has a resolution of 3072×1920 pixels. It has variable refresh rate support as well. The refresh rates are 47.95hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 59.94Hz and 60Hz. But no higher refresh rate support is present. The display supports the DCI P3 colour gamut, same as before!
It has 226 PPI pixel density, 500 nits of brightness. These parameters are similar to the previous 15-inch model.
16 inch MacBook Pro build and other changes
The design feels similar to the previous model but there are subtle differences. The 16 inch MacBook Pro is 0.77mm thicker. So maybe the previous hardcover cases and accessories that you had wouldn’t fit that easy on this model. It’s also slightly heavier than before at 1.9505 kg.
There’s a dedicated ESC key now. And there’s also a dedicated power on/off key with the TouchID in it. This button is clickable!
The biggest build change is the new scissor key switch style keyboard. This new scissor key mechanism still has a unique low profile and 1 mm of key travel. Apple’s calling it the Magic keyboard.
The laptop now has a new internal layout and also comes with new cooling fans for up to 28% better airflow. This should definitely translate to lower instances of thermal throttling on the new 16-inch model.
The speakers have also received a revamp. This time around it’s a 6 internal speaker system. These are the absolute best speakers on any laptop present right now.
Apple has also improved the microphone quality and has claimed that these are studio-level microphones now!
So, guys, this was all that has changed in the new 16 inch MacBook Pro. Are you really excited about the same? I will most probably invest all of my savings into it and go broke for the rest of the year! What about you? xD
