Apple releases macOS Mojave 10.14.5 supplemental update

Brings in fixes for new MacBook Pro owners!

The macOS Mojave 10.14.5 supplemental system update has just been released in less than two weeks of the previous update. Apple released the supplemental update this morning. But it is aimed only at 2018, 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro models with Apple’s self-developed T2 security chip.

We are also using the same model and needless to say this update was long due. Because recently we started facing issues related to the Touchbar not being initialized after a restart. We hope that this update solves that issue and it isn’t a much bigger underlying issue.

According to Apple’s update tips, this supplemental update addresses a “firmware issue” affecting Macs with T2 chips, and the details of the firmware issue are not given in the update prompt.

Mac users can open the “System Preferences” app, enter the “Software Updates” section to upgrade their device. The company recommends that all affected users should do this update.

Apple macOS Mojave 10.14.5 supplemental update and news

Apple released a new 2019 MacBook Pro in a low-key manner yesterday. In addition to bringing faster Intel’s eighth- and ninth-generation processors, the new device has also improved the butterfly-mechanism keyboard (Apple’s claim is that new materials are used this time). They claim that they have fixed problems such as sticky, duplicated, and invalid buttons on the keyboard of the old device. But only time will tell whether Apple’s keyboard woes are fully gone or not!

Apple chose to release the new MacBook Pro in the first two weeks of the WWDC. Instead of choosing to release it in a keynote speech. This was probably done to reduce the impact of keyboard key defects (because a new keyboard service plan was also launched). So this does not mean that the WWDC keynote won’t focus on any new hardware release and will focus only on software. We are still very hopeful to see the release of the new modular Mac Pro and an Apple-branded display on June 4.
