The past 12 months have been raining with budget smartphones. We have had the top-class budget smartphone race started by Motorola Moto G at the start of the year. The phone broke many records and it was a first for the Indian market when people actually bought a specific device online in huge numbers.
In a way, e-commerce and internet shopping came out on their own really well this year. People are no longer hesitant to shop online and the superb competition has drawn the prices even lower making affordable and good smartphones available for almost all people. Asus too launched its own phones this year in India and markets elsewhere.
The Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5, and Zenfone 6 were smartphones launched by Asus. Each Zenfone was made with a specific consumer segment in mind. The Zenfone 4 is aimed at those people who are on the lookout to buy their first Android smartphone for a relatively cheap price.
The Zenfone 6 is for people who are looking for a premium Android experience and the Zenfone 5 is the smartphone for people who want a balance of both performance and price. We got to spend more than a week with the awesome Zenfone 5 and got to know all of its strengths and weaknesses in detail.
So let’s discuss Asus Zenfone 5 specs and prices in India.

The Asus Zenfone 5 comes in five colors which are Pearl White, Charcoal Black, Sky Blue, Solar Yellow, and Cherry Red. The phone that we received for review was Charcoal black and gave a premium feel. The phone is easily usable with a single hand for people with normal-sized hands.
The phone has a concentric circle finish below the capacitive touch keys. The metallic volume keys and the power button are placed on the right side and are easy to press and feedback is good. The phone has a curved back and the back bears an Intel inside mark and Asus logo. The phone has a wide design and despite being a bar-style phone feels quite modern.

Asus Zenfone 5 specs and price in India: Battery life in a real-world usage scenario
The Zenfone 5 falls behind in battery life when it comes to heavy or more than-average usage. I used the phone for around 7 days. The phone lasted a full day after a full charge when I used it moderately i.e. playing a song or two once every hour, receiving a few calls, and Wi-fi on for 10-15 minutes once every hour or so to check messages and notifications.
But on the second day of usage, I had to charge the phone twice a day when I kept the mobile data on the whole time and played a few 30-minute+ HD videos in between and also played hardware-intensive games for 2-3 hours.
For the average user who doesn’t use the phone too heavily, the phone would go through the day. But for enthusiastic teens who like connectivity, lots of music, and games in between their mobile experience the phone wouldn’t last as much as they would want to.
The Moto G 2014 edition surely is better in terms of battery life. But considering the fact that the Zenfone 5 gives so much for such a decent price the normal user can ignore the concern related to battery life.
Conclusion
If you want a custom Android experience and don’t want a stock experience like that of Motorola phones and the Android One range along with a decent camera and performance phone then Asus Zenfone 5 is the phone for you!
