On June 24th, Amazon proclaimed its intention to establish an AI innovation centre with a $100 million investment to aid enterprise clients and partners in planning and deploying AI technology.
Amazon aims to leverage this technology to enhance its AI cloud services and compete with industry giants like Microsoft and Google, in order to strengthen the appeal of its AWS business among enterprises and drive its growth.
As per Amazon, the new AI Innovation Center will bring together various resources such as advisory services, data scientists, engineers, and solution architects, to assist clients from different industries to leverage AWS’s machine learning capabilities and AI services for creating enterprise solutions and reducing costs.
Furthermore, Amazon has stated that the innovation centre team can help clients use AWS generative AI services, including CodeWhisper, a code writing assistant, Bedrock (an AI model platform), and other commercial tools, to expedite drug research for medical companies, optimize process design and project manufacturing for manufacturing, provide personalized financial advice, and real-time information to clients in the financial industry.
Amazon’s AWS generative AI service has already attracted many participants, including AI sales tool provider Highspot, travel company Lonely Planet, Ryanair aviation, and project management platform Twilio. The new investment is expected to further amplify AWS’s influence relative to competing products.
