Blackberry BBM app removed from Play store and App store : Yes, it’s true. If your BBM is working fine then don’t worry. But for those of you wondering why your Blackberry messenger on Android suddenly got disabled, we have an eye opener. Blackberry hasn’t even officially launched it’s BBM app for Android. This Android leak just showed how popular BBM became in the few hours it was available.

Everyone was showing off their BBM pins and we had a flood of updates on social media related to #BBM. And even those users on Whatsapp had their status set to their BBM pin. But all of this happened because of the seemingly open nature of play store or we can say Android in general. While the users of BBM for iOS won’t have to suffer any outages and can continue to use the service, Android users have to wait. Blackberry messenger’s official website BBM.com still has the picture saying that BBM would be available soon. Many sites had already published links to the BBM app which of course have been rendered useless by now. And only Blackberry can tell when the service would be available for Android for real.

Blackberry BBM app removed from Play store, app store : But why ?
It has been done because according to Blackberry the app is unfinished and not yet ready for widespread adoption or use.
Here’s the screenshot of BBM.com’s homepage.

In a recent post on it’s blog Blackberry had stated the following :
Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already — more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app — is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day. Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM.
iPhone users have seriously been lucky this time, like always. They get to keep and use the app they downloaded. But it has been removed from the App store. So, we can say that BBM is still not officially available on these platforms. In the case of our beloved Android many users are already complaining of premature deactivation of service that they got to use only for a day or so.
Here’s the official tweet by Blackberry :
Personally I joined the party a bit late. When I searched and tried to find the app on the net, I couldn’t find any credible source and the app was nowhere to be found in the play store. So, are you the lucky ones who got to try the app before it was taken away? Answer it in the comments below.
