Google Chrome Browser Stable Version 125 Released: New Search Suggestions, Security Checks, and Bug Fixes
On May 16, 2024, Google updated the Chrome browser to its stable version 125, which introduces search suggestions related to previous user queries.
These suggestions are generated based on similar searches conducted by other users.
To use this feature:
- Open a new tab.
- Click on the search box to see suggestions related to your past searches.
- Click on the suggested topics to view related search results.
In terms of security enhancements, users can now access a “Security Check” feature to review their privacy and security settings.
Chrome will notify users of any security recommendations through this feature.
To access the Security Check:
- Open the Chrome menu in the top right corner.
- Go to settings.
- Navigate to the “Security Check” section.
Additionally, this update includes nine security fixes, four of which were contributed by external researchers:
- CVE-2024-4947: Type confusion in V8 (high risk)
- CVE-2024-4948: Use-after-free in Dawn (high risk)
- CVE-2024-4949: Use-after-free in V8 (medium risk)
- CVE-2024-4950: Improper implementation during downloads (low risk)
