Google Pixel Watch 2 Specifications Leaks: This SmartWatch Is Just Around the Corner!

It will come equipped with Snapdragon W5 chip and it will support ultra-wideband technology.

News on August 6: Google is preparing to unveil the Pixel Watch 2 smartwatch, as stated by Android Authority, a reputable technology publication. The upcoming watch will feature an upgraded processor, ultra-wideband technology, and a larger battery to enhance performance and user experience.

According to an insider at Google, as mentioned by Android Authority, the Pixel Watch 2 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor.

This highly efficient chip is constructed on a 4nm process, offering significant enhancements compared to the Samsung Exynos 9110 processor used in the previous-generation Pixel Watch. The new chip boasts four cores operating at 1.7GHz, in addition to improved GPU performance with Adreno 702.

An exciting feature of the Pixel Watch 2 is its support for ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, enabling precise positioning and data transmission. The watch will include an integrated NXP SR100T UWB module, enabling various applications.

For instance, users can utilize the watch to locate their phone or other devices, unlock UWB-compatible cars through digital keys, and seamlessly switch media playback between the watch, tablet, or smart speaker.

The battery capacity of the Pixel Watch 2 has been increased from 294 mAh to 306 mAh. While not a substantial increase, combined with the energy-efficient advantages of the new processor, it should extend the watch’s battery life.

The display specifications for the Pixel Watch 2 remain unchanged, featuring a circular OLED screen measuring 1.2 inches with a resolution of 384 x 384 pixels. However, the supplier of the display has switched from BOE to Samsung Display, potentially resulting in improvements in brightness or power efficiency.

The Pixel Watch 2 will have the Wear OS 4 system pre-installed and it’s based on Android 13. It will support features like dynamic themes and seamless updates, allowing users to update the system in the background without disrupting normal usage.

Reports indicate that the Pixel Watch 2 will offer two versions: Eos, which supports LTE networks, and Aurora, which supports Wi-Fi networks only. Although Google has not yet announced the specific release date and pricing details for the Pixel Watch 2, it is expected to launch in the second half of this year.

We will continue to monitor any updates regarding this release.
