InFocus M2 3G review, full specifications and unboxing

In the war of budget phones a lot rides on the pricing of the phone and the specifications of that particular phone. In this specs war a lot of phones are coming in day by day. Some of them win and some of them loose the race. Some cause a temporary disruption and some come and stay for the long ride to success. This battle has intensified a bit more now as daily new and better offerings crop up. Amongst such phones is the new Infocus M2 3g which is simply one of the best phones below the price tag of 5k INR. Amongst the chief selling points of this device is the fact that it has a back as well as front 8 MP camera alongwith diffused flash in the front which makes for a great selfie camera. We have also included a full review video at the end of this post so that you can get to know more about this great device with ease. So let’s just talk a bit more about the InFocus M2 3G in detail.

InFocus M2 3G review: The processing & memory.

The phone comes with a 1.3 Ghz Quad core processor alongwith 1 GB of RAM. The device has a MediaTek MT6582 processor which makes for the overall value for money proposition. It has an inbuilt storage of 8 GB which can be further expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card. It scores average on the Antutu Benchmark and it’s not a performance powerhouse but that can’t be expected at this price range by any means!

Software and battery life of InFocus M2 3g.

The InFocus M2 3G ships with Android 4.4 KitKat which has been skinned to make a UI similar to MIUI or the iOS experience. So that means that there is no app drawer and everything is visible from a single screen and this feature may be pleasant for some simple while it may not be liked by others and at the end of the day it all just boils down to your own personal preference. The name of this custom UI is InLife UI and it has inbuilt support for Java.

Battery on this device is a 2010 mAh battery but because of the fact that the display of the device is not too large the battery doesn’t drain really fast and add to this some battery saving applications like Greenify then the battery would last at least up to 2 days. But on heavy usage you can expect the phone to easily last you through the day.

Display and Camera on the InFocus M2 3g.

The device comes with a 4.2 inch display which has a really high display density because of the fact that a 1280×768 pixel display is present on the design which roughly translates to a 355 ppi display. The device scores good on the colour reproduction though it’s not as bright or vivid as the flagship androids we have become used to.

Design and connectivity features on the InFocus M2 3G.

InFocus M2 3G review back of m2 3gThe phone is available in black as well as white colours. It weighs around 145 gms and it does fell pretty solid in hand because of the compact form factor of the device. Overall it does feel better in hand than the other 5 inch devices that are currently in market most of which can’t be used with one hand with ease. The design of the device might remind you of the Moto G 1st gen but the back on this device does not have a matte finish and gets too many fingerprints easily, same is true for the display of the device. Connectivity features for this device includes 3g connectivity, the device is a dual sim device. It also supports bluetooth v4.0, Wifi in the bands of 802.11 b/g/n. It has a standard 3.5 mm port and apart from that it also has FM alongwith Micro-USB port.It has a proximity sensor, as well as accelerometer for tracking motion along with a gyroscope and an ambient light sensor.

Our verdict:

All in all this device is good but not excellent it does lack in terms of the software and the UI implementation and the camera takes more than a while to refocus or focus on moving objects. But all in all for an asking price of INR 4,999 this device is a steal. It currently retails on Snapdeal exclusively and you can buy the product from there.
