News On September 6th: Intel is set to release a new series of Raptor Lake Refresh processors, barring any unexpected developments. A mass-production version of the processor has already surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, suggesting that it will become available next month.
The latest flagship model, the Intel Core i9-14900K processor, scored 3121 points in the single-core test of Geekbench 6.1.0, representing an approximate 6% boost compared to the previous-generation 13900K. However, its multi-core performance was somewhat underwhelming.
It’s worth mentioning that the testing platform used a Biostar Z790 motherboard and 16GB DDR5-4800 memory, which might have limited the i9-14900K’s true potential.
Previous reports suggest that the i9-14900K features 8 P cores and 16 E cores, taking advantage of Thermal Velocity Boost technology to join the exclusive club of Intel processors with frequencies above 6 GHz.
A side-by-side comparison between the Core i9-14900K and Core i7-14700K via Crossmark Benchmark reveals that the former boasts a scoring edge of around 14%. This disparity highlights the capabilities of both high-end chips from Intel.
Word on the street is that the upcoming processors, specifically the i9-14900K, i7-14700K, and i5-14600K, will command price tags inflated by nearly 15%. A rough estimate pegs the cost of the top-of-the-line 14900K at $695, equivalent to INR 57,704 or roughly 5053 yuan.
Whether consumers find this price hike palatable remains uncertain.
