According to some previous rumours Intel was going to launch the i9 9990XE processor but it was supposed to be sold only on an auction basis.
But according to some newer leaks, Germany’s major retailer Caseking has sold the Intel Core i9 9990XE for a price of 2,999 euros. To keep things in perspective that means the price is around INR 2,34,817 OR $3395 which is definitely a steep price for a CPU.
This CPU is capable of reaching up to 5 GHz on all clocks and 5.1 GHz on a single core boost. This particular model comes with a 4 GHz base clock and is a HEDT i.e. High-end desktop LGA2066 CPU.
It belongs to the SkyLake X (SKL-X) series and it comes with 14 cores, 28 threads, 44 PCIe 3.0 channel and a total power draw of 255w (thermal design power). It also has a massive 19.25 MB L3 cache. This 14 nm chip feels more like a Core i9-9940X with support for a higher clock frequency.
So guys what do you think?
Is this CPU even worth buying? Or should we wait for the beastly third gen Ryzen Threadrippers? Which are most probably going to redefine everything we are used to paying for ultra high-end performance CPUs.
