Lenovo Vibe P1 initial review, specifications and price

The newly launched devices from Lenovo i.e Vibe P1 and P1m have one major selling point, the battery! With massive batteries ranging from 4,000-5,000 mAh, the devices give you ample time to spend playing on your smartphone and doing other things in low battery that urgently have to be done. Apart from the battery function, let’s see what other stuff is present in Lenovo Vibe P1.
Table of Contents
Lenovo Vibe P1 design and display:
The overall design and display of the Vibe P1 is pretty sleek and simple. With a combination of metal and glass design, the phone shines like a flagship device. There is an addition of ultra power saving button on the left-hand side, a power and volume button and the right-hand side, Noise cancellation mic and a 3.5 mm jack at the top and a USB charging point at the bottom with 2 speaker grills on each side.
The 5.5-inch display is full HD IPS with 16M colors to brighten up your day. Along with that, you get 1080 x 1920 pixels (401 ppi) with glass protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display works in a great manner with ample adjustment towards direct sunlight. When you look at the home screen, it is pretty decent and not cluttered with extra apps floating around. With 152.9 x 75.6 x 9.9 mm and a weight of 189 g, the phone is pretty okay to handle and use with one hand is also possible.
Lenovo Vibe P1 Software and Performance:
The Vibe P1 comes packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with a 1.4 GHz chipset, a 2 GB RAM and 32 GB Storage which is expandable up to 128 GB. Overall, the device performs pretty decently without any lags. Here’s a scorecard of the tests we performed to know the performance standard of Vibe P1:
Test Scores of the Vibe P1 on various benchmarks (These scores are indicative.):
NenaMark2: 59.6 fps
Antutu Benchmark: 35468
GeekBench 3 Single core score: 643
GeekBench 3 Multi core Score: 2422
These benchmark scores are indicative of performance and in no way the final scores of this device as it was a test unit on which we ran the tests.
Now, when we tried to play a 4K video on the device, we noticed a few lags. Not a huge number, just 2-4 times the audio of the video vanished. It’s not that of a big deal as otherwise the video ran smoothly, but it’s worth noticing. One of the unique addition in the device is the ultra power saving button. You simply need to slide up to go into the power saving mode. Once done, extra processes running in the background would automatically shut down and the device will run on low power mode. On the low power mode the phone can stay in standby for days at a stretch. It certainly helps to have such power saving features. Another unique function that we came across is related to the battery, which we will explain the battery segment.
Lenovo Vibe P1 Camera details:
The smartphone comes with a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera which clicks great pictures during daylight as well as in low light. We noticed some blurred details in the pictures when we zoomed in but few shots from front camera were really great.
Even the little detail like cracks on the floor were clearly visible which is a good sign. Other features in the camera segment include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama etc.

Battery:
Lenovo Vibe P1’s selling point is its battery which they improved with unique features like the ultra power saving button and USB OTG functionality. The OTG functionality helps you in sharing your device’s power to charge up another smartphone which is really great in case we come across a friend who needs a little battery in their phone. Also, with a massive 5,000 mAh battery which can easily last for about 24 hours, imagine how much gaming can you pursue which otherwise, was always rationed.
