Microsoft launches Lumia 535, first after Nokia acquistion

Microsoft launches Lumia 535, first Lumia smartphone with its branding was recently released in Indian market priced at Rs.9199. India being one of the later release markets after it was released in Europe on 11th November. The phone runs on Microsoft’s latest OS Windows phone 8.1 and is targeted for early market, competing against the budget android smartphones. The Lumia 535 has a 5 inch qHD display and 1 GB of RAM for all your needs. It is powered by Snapdragon 200 processor and the Windows 8.1 OS is updated with Denim. Like the Notification panel in Android phone, there is Action Centre. The apps tiles are transparent now and there is Dark and Light to choose between for interface for accent by user. Their is also Cortana Voice Assistant present, and Free MS Office apps included by Microsoft. Microsoft also offer OneDrive for free cloud storage. The front camera of Lumia 535 is the same which Microsoft used in the Lumia 730 which is a 5 Megapixel shooter with f/2.4 aperture, 24 mm focal length.

A few set of offers are also bundled by the Company which it is calling an India Offer, which includes up to 5 different and interesting offers from various telecom operators and e-com portals of India.
They are:

1.) Vodafone India subscribers using Lumia 535 will get upto 500MB of internet pack per month, free of cost for first two months. But one thing to note here is that the offer is for subscribers who don’t have any data plans active at the time of buying.
2.) You get Rs 6000 off on the purchase via Jabong’s Windows Phone App on Lumia 535 for 3 months.
3.) Paytm offers Rs 600 worth of extra charge on any recharge; Rs. 150 per month over 4 months.
4.) Flipkart offers free eBooks worth of Rs. 1500.
5.) BoxTV is offering 2 months of subscription worth Rs.720 absolutely free.

The Microsoft Lumia 535 is available for buying from 28th November for Indian consumers and it will come under four color options which includes Orange, Green, White and Black. From Earlier news, we would like to remind you that Microsoft have finally ditched the “Nokia” branding from its Lumia smartphones and the new ones will all come with Microsoft branding.

Display on the Lumia 535 is a 5-inch qHD with resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and the device is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. This is better than other budget phones on Lumia range which were heavily compromised on the features front.

The major difference this time is the Microsoft Lumia Denim update. It brings forth the following features to the Lumia 535:

  • Cortana Voice assistant: With the Denim update UK and China would receive the Cortana as a beta. India, Australia and Canada would receive the update as a public alpha. Cortana brings with it several improvements over the previous Cortana assistant. Cortana now supports snooze reminders, improvements to the calender have been made and now it has improved support for natural language for people residing in the USA. “Hey Cortana” voice activation is also available now for users to access Cortana without actually pressing any button.
  • Apps Corner: Now people can make custom home screens where only some particular applications would be accessible, this is ideal for situations when people are issued phones in a corporate environment.
  • Mobile website improvements in Internet Explorer: The mobile websites which earlier took time to load in the browser now run much better and download speeds have improved.
  • SMS forwarding and merge option: Now single messages can be selected, sent, deleted or forwarded from message threads.
  • Live folders: Now home screen live folders can be easily created and custom names can be assigned to them.
  • Lumia camera: This application will replace the Nokia camera app in the Lumia phones and it is designed to make the camera and clicking experience even better than before.

The Lumia Denim update, and the Ram bumping are important features to date as they make the gaming experience better for users. Now that Microsoft enjoys total control over the Lumia series so the phone comes pre-loaded with the 5 essential Microsoft service : Skype, Office, OneDrive, Cortana and OneNote.

numbering scheme.”

phone product marketing at Microsoft.

much our smartphone brand.”

The camera in Lumia 535 is an interesting one, it’s the same one which the company used in Lumia 730, and possesses a 5 Megapixel wide angle lens for Video calling and taking selfies. The rear camera is of 5 Megapixel as well with an LED flash.

Lumia 535 has an internal storage of 8GB and a Micro-SD card slot of expansion limit up to 128 GB. You’ll also get 15 GB of cloud storage for free from the company. The battery of Lumia 535 is a 1900 mAh and the device is available in both single SIM and Dual SIM variants, like the other recent Lumia devices.

Microsoft will have high hopes from Lumia 535 as there isn’t any other flagship Lumia smartphone releasing in the next few months.
