As per the technology publication “Windows Latest”, Microsoft hinted at the existence of the next-generation operating system (often referred to as Windows 12) during the Build 2023 Developer Conference keynote speech.
During the presentation, a screenshot was displayed featuring a widget that resembles an Outlook calendar with multiple reminders, including one for the “Next Generation Windows” conference.
This is not the first instance where Microsoft has hinted at the next-generation Windows 12 operating system. The company has previously referred to it as the “Next Valley Prototype Design.”
Reports suggest that the new OS will feature a desktop with a completely different appearance and a floating taskbar without a system tray.
According to the Win 11 Build 23440 preview update released by Microsoft, users can now conceal the time and date on the system tray, which is reportedly in line with the Windows 12 feature description that Microsoft is testing internally. There is a lot of speculation that the next-generation Windows operating system will debut in 2024.
A source familiar with the development claims that Microsoft is optimizing the new OS for ARM processors, and they will deeply integrate artificial intelligence in the next OS. The underlying architecture will also be significantly adjusted.
