Microsoft Xbox’s next big event has been confirmed for the Tokyo Game Show. Reports from September 10 indicate that Jez Corden, co-host of the Xbox Two podcast, had a conversation with an Xbox executive at Gamescom regarding the integration of Platinum achievements into the gaming ecosystem.
The executive revealed that Microsoft is keen on upgrading the achievement system to offer more challenge and motivation for gamers.
At present, Microsoft has other priorities, but they acknowledge the significance of refining the achievement system to deliver additional excitement and inspiration for players.
Achievements have the potential to extend a game’s appeal and encourage players to go beyond mere level completion. Developers can create these challenges, which can align with the primary narrative of the game, like finishing a particular level, or branch out into supplementary objectives, like unlocking secret skills or stages.
Alternatively, they can exist independently of the game’s central plot or subplots, tasking players with completing the game in uniquely difficult or unorthodox manners.
