Moto X play specifications and price in India

Moto X Play was launched two days back in India. Motorola with its Moto G and Moto E segments has provided consumers with budgeted smartphones with quality performance. That’s the benchmark Motorola has set in India. Now with it’s recent launch with Moto X Play which will be available exclusively at Flipkart, let’s see what they have in store for us. Read on to know more about this smartphone.

Moto X play specifications and price in India

Design:

When it comes to design, Motorola Moto X hasn’t made much changes from the previous form factor. The phone just looks like a bigger and more refined version of Moto G3 with dimensions of 148 x 75 x 10.9 mm and weighs only 169 gm which is pretty light on your hand. The design is water repellent, not waterproof. So keep in mind to leave your phone outside before you go for a shower or a swim. Along with this, Motorola X-Play comes with a separate tray for its two sim cards and a memory card holder which is like really cool. It’s placed on the top of the device and they have also provided a key to open this tray. But then if you are in a habit of replacing your sim card again and again, you might lose out on the network from time to time. Moto X Play comes with back panel colors also. But if you try them on, some of them don’t fit perfectly which is a noticeable issue.

Display:

The new phone comes with 5.5 inches display which combined with a resolution of 1080 X 1920 Pixels (403 ppi), gives you an amazing viewing experience on the device. It is fully packed with 16 M colors and has the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Outdoor the device works perfectly fine and balances automatically under sunlight. Overall, there are no such display issues and it feels really responsive to touch input.

Software and Performance:

Loaded with quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa core SoC along with 2 GB of RAM, Moto X Play gives you decent enough space and fast speed to multitask on it. CPU of the device consists of Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 which makes sure that the phone doesn’t lag or heat up due to excessive usage. The device comes with storage options of 16 GB and 32 GB, but there is a very thin line between the price of both variants. So people won’t mind investing in the 32GB variant. The overall performance of the device is decent enough though you might feel it heating up a little bit when your try and play games like Asphalt. It is not that much of a heating issue, but it’s noticeable.

An interesting feature that we came across was Moto Assist, which helps you in doing daily tasks like changing your sound profile mode when you come back home for you etc. Though there are many task assistants available these days but Moto Assist is something that we can definitely use and something that learns your behavior and usage patterns over time.

Camera:

Now the camera is the selling point of Moto X Play. With a 21 MP camera at such a reasonable price, people would not hesitate into buying this device. There’s a 5 MP front camera as well for selfie addicts. When it comes to Camera performance, the back camera worked really great. There was hardly any lags and picture quality was really good. The images did not pixelate or bubble upon zooming. Though it might trouble you when clicking pictures in low light. The quality of pictures in low light would be average. Front camera works really well too and hardly any quirks were noticed there.

When we tried to create a slow motion video, the camera was not able to focus properly on the object which was a little disappointing. So for people who love to make videos with slow mo effect, make sure to have a little distance from the objects you are shooting in order to have proper focus.

Battery:

The second selling point of Moto X Play, battery! It’s predecessor, Moto X was bashed due to battery and camera issues only. That’s why the makers made sure to cover up these areas on this device. It provides you with a 3630mAh massive battery which on papers is supposed to last for 2 days. But after 1 and a half days the battery was on the verge of dying. So the claim on papers is somewhat true.

Who should buy this device?

Anyone on the lookout for a decent mid range device with stock Android and good camera plus battery life should buy the new Moto X. It works great out of the box and feels solid in hand. In case you can push your budget up higher then you can go for the much coveted One Plus 2 but only if you have an invite which is a very pitiable scenario.

Here’s our initial review of this device where in we have tried to highlight most of the issues and features concerning the new Moto X:
