Motorola is known for making great budget Android phones and midrange devices. The Motorola Moto X40 was one such phone that got traction when it made its China debut in December. The Edge 40 Pro could be the overseas version of the Moto X40 for the rest of the world. If leaked sources are right then it would be Motorola’s first phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
According to the phone’s render design leaked by the known leaker Evan Blass on Twitter, we can see that the Motorola Edge 40 Pro is expected to feature a centred punch hole, a curved display, and a rear triple camera setup. the phone has already been spotted on both the Geekbench database and the Google Play Console platform.
The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is expected to come equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, accompanied by a 6.67-inch OLED display that supports FHD+ resolution and a high refresh rate of 165Hz. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The 4,600mAh battery should provide ample screen-on time, and users can expect 125W fast charging via wired charging as a standard feature, along with support for 15W wireless and reverse wireless charging. The camera setup is expected to feature a 50MP f/1.9 primary camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP macro telephoto lens, with a 60MP front-facing camera for selfies.
In terms of dimensions, the phone is expected to measure 161.3 x 73.9 x 8.5 mm and weigh 196 grams. Connectivity options will include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, GPS, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The Moto Edge 40 Pro’s design is said to resemble the China-exclusive Moto X40. If the dimensions remain unchanged, the phone could measure 6.35 x 2.9 x 0.33 inches and weigh just 7.02 ounces.
The Edge 40 Pro is expected to follow in the footsteps of the Edge 30 Pro and be positioned as its successor in Motorola’s product lineup. The Edge 30 Pro was released in the US as the Edge+ in 2022. While we eagerly anticipate the release of the Edge 40 Pro, there is currently no information on when it will be available.
