On May 25th, it was reported that Pei Yu, the founder of Nothing, shared with Forbes magazine that the Nothing Phone 2 will be launched in July in the United States and other parts of the world, simultaneously.
The previous model, Nothing Phone 1, was released globally before it came to the US market months later. Pei Yu emphasized the significance of the US market for the success of Nothing, and he hopes that the Nothing Phone 2 will provide a genuine iPhone alternative for consumers.
He stated that the US market is heavily dominated by Apple, with no real alternatives for those who seek one. Thus, the Nothing Phone 2 is likely to present an excellent opportunity. Pei Yu also confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 will come with a 4700 mAh battery, which is 200 mAh more than the Phone 1’s 4500 mAh.
While not the biggest, it’s still larger than the 3,900 mAh battery of the Samsung Galaxy S23 and the 4,323 mAh battery of Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro Max. Regarding the processor, Pei Yu had previously confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 would be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, launched last year, instead of the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
He explained that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has been thoroughly tested and continuously optimized through numerous updates since its launch last year, making it a proven processor. Pei Yu believes that this chip will help deliver high-end performance without prohibitive costs, making upcoming devices more affordable.
He stated that Nothing would continue to prioritize user experience over joining the configuration race, and the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip would help the company achieve this goal. The official release of Nothing Nothing Phone 2 is expected in a few weeks, and it remains to be seen whether it will continue the success of its predecessor.
The Nothing Phone 1 reportedly sold 750,000 units worldwide.
