This week, the suspected RTX 3080 engineering model card’s pictures were leaked. And the shape is quite different compared to user expectations. It seems that Nvidia is considering a unique design of using a double-sided fan. We don’t know how the heat dissipation performance will be with such a design.
In addition to appearance, I believe the leaked specifications of the Nvidia RTX 3080 are more eye-catching.
According to multiple reports, the RTX 3080 will be based on the GA102-200 core, with 4352 CUDA cores built-in, supplemented by 10GB of VRAM.
Not only that, but RTX 3080 will also be the first to join the Nvidia RTX 3090 which will sport 5248 CUDA cores and GA102-300 core. The higher tier GPU in this family is the new RTX TITAN with 5376 CUDA cores and the GA102-400 core.
Combining the number of CUDA cores of the upcoming RTX 3080 and the frequency of 1.75 GHz, the single-precision floating-point performance deduced on paper is 15TFLOPS, which is a 50% improvement over the RTX 2080.
The increase in performance is really interesting. But we are afraid that this might lead to an increase in price as well!
Previously announced by Nvidia for the A100 computing card which will have 108 SM units, 6912 stream processors, 40GB HBM2 video memory. Based on this judgment, the substantial increase in the overall CUDA scale of the Ampere lineup of gaming graphics card should be great as well. It has been speculated that the RTX 3080 will only have 128 more than the RTX 2080, which is a bit too conservative.
