OnePlus emerges as the No.1 premium smartphone brand in India during the second quarter!

Recently launched OnePlus 8 Series 5G lead as best-selling premium smartphones in Q2 2020.

OnePlus, a global technology brand, emerges as the market leader in the Indian premium smartphone segment with 29.3% of the market share, as per Counterpoint Analysis Q2 2020.

The brand’s success is largely led by its recently launched flagship devices, OnePlus 8 Series 5G. Launched in April 2020, the OnePlus 8 Series 5G garnered a highly positive response from consumers in the Indian market. Furthermore, the OnePlus 8 device emerged as the number one smartphone model in the premium segment in Q2 2020 with 19% market share. Similarly, the OnePlus 8 Pro drove the brand’s ultra-premium smartphone shipments as one of the top 3 best-selling smartphones in the ultra-premium segment.

Addressing the brand’s achievement, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India shared,

“This year has been a year of new learnings and new beginnings for us at OnePlus. And it has driven us to relentlessly focus on bringing excellent technology to our community. As a brand, we are grateful to our India community for their sincere faith in our efforts. And we will continue to work closely with our community to create products that offer truly burdenless user experience with unparalleled quality.“

Shilpi Jain, the Research Analyst, Counterpoint Research, shared,

“The OnePlus 8 series 5G rode on the momentum from 7 series and further strengthened its premium flagship image by bringing latest features. Solid build and design, larger battery capacity, higher refresh rate with impressive Android UI (OxygenOS 10) helped it to gain share, even though it means a higher wallet share for consumers as compared to the previous OnePlus flagships. Strong community base with loyal customers is also one of the strengths of OnePlus which it has developed over the years”.

Overall, the premium smartphone segment in India registered its highest ever recorded share in Q2 2020, with significant share from OnePlus as a brand. The segment contributed 4% towards the total shipments for Q2 2020 as per the Counterpoint report.
