Oppo F1s specifications and price (hands on review)

Oppo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer famous for its selfie centered F series phones in past has launched its new flagship model Oppo F1s on Wednesday.
The new model from F series has made a quite a late appearance considering the last model was launched way back in Jan.
The new Oppo F1s promises to be a feature rich smartphone targeted at the upper tier of market.
The Selfie-Expert smartphone Oppo F1s was launched in an event in Mumbai which we also covered.
Oppo F1s is similar in design to it predecessor F1 Plus and they look virtually same from the front. The edges are mildly curved which gives a good feeling while holding the phone. Also their’s a slim bezel to add up to the style quotient. The phone have Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection for its screen.
Button placement in Oppo F1s is ergonomic although better spacing between the volume buttons would have been a choice and made it easy to distinguish them. The headphones socket is on the bottom, along with a Micro-USB port and mono speaker. Once again, the headphones socket would have been better on the top as cable tend to get in the way while you’re trying to type.
Oppo F1s boasts off a 16 Megapixel front camera for all your selfie needs which is needless to say, is its USP. The camera comes with Beautify 4.0 feature which now has 7 levels and 2 skin modes. The Oppo F1s also has a rear camera of 13 MP. Like the other F series phones, you can click a selfie by voice command and hand gestures, the demo for which can be seen in our hands on review video. The front camera can record 1080p video and there are some additional shooting modes like GIF mode, filters, and double exposure.
Along with the camera, the Oppo F1s have a 5.5 inch HD display which is quite similar to Oppo’s earlier model F1 Plus but it produces rich colors and the maximum brightness level is also much better than the F1 Plus. It’s a dual SIM device which runs Color OS 3.0 skin on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop. The fact that it doesn’t come preloaded with Android Marshmallow is something of a huge disappointment.
Oppo F1s is powered by MediaTek’s MT6750 octa-core processor i.e. the Helio P10 SoC running at 1.5 GHz with 3 GB RAM. Internal memory is 32 GB and can be increased to 128 GB via microSD card expansion. There is no NFC though.
Oppo F1s also has a front facing Fingerprint recognition feature which Oppo claims can recognize the fingerprints very fast in 0.2 seconds to unlock the device.
It is backed by a 3,075 mAh battery and supports two nano 4G sims.
Oppo F1s could have been a great phone had it not neglected little things like NFC, fast charging, or Wi-Fi ac which no one’s probably gonna miss, but would’ve made the experience better and the price a little less asking.
With competitors releasing devices with similar and more features at lesser price, one tends to ask whether the price is right, and this may prove to be the biggest worrying point for Oppo.
