Recently, a user asked in the Apple developer community that he could not find PHP in macOS 12 Monterey. An official Apple engineer replied: macOS Monterey has removed PHP.

The attitudes of the netizens in the following posts are quite different. Some people say that this is a huge step backwards, and some people say that the PHP that comes with macOS is an outdated and insecure version, and it is the right choice to remove it.

We have learned that as early as in the release notes of Apple’s development tool Xcode 11, Apple pointed out:

“macOS includes scripting languages ??such as Python, Ruby and Perl to be compatible with older software. In future versions of macOS, the default, In this case, the scripting language will not be provided to run, and the user may need to install additional software packages.”

Do you think the scripting language pre-installed on macOS is useful? Does it need to be pre-installed for all users? Additionally, all of us know how easy it is to install all of these things via HomeBrew packages and commands. But is it bad for them to remove the default support? Do let us know your thoughts about the same in the comments section below!
