Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. has announced the launch of the innovative Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, which has been ingeniously engineered to provide remarkable mobile experiences to consumers worldwide.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 aims to make impressive mobile technologies, such as 5G, more accessible to a wider range of consumers, especially those in the value tier. This new platform is designed to cater to the needs of users by providing effortless multi-tasking, advanced photography and videography, and dependable connections.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is packed with upgrades to enhance performance, optimize 5G connectivity, and deliver richer experiences for its users. It is the first 4nm platform in the 4-series, offering extended battery life and improved overall platform efficiency.
The Qualcomm Kryo CPU is capable of delivering peak speeds up to 2.2 GHz, providing up to 10% better CPU performance for fast and smooth everyday usage. The platform also features Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ Technology, which can recharge up to 50% of a battery in just 15 minutes, eliminating the hassle of limiting device interaction throughout the day. The platform supports 120fps FHD+ displays that offer improved clarity and seamless scrolling.
Users can capture meaningful experiences with razor-sharp photography and videography offered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. Its electronic image stabilization and faster autofocus provide blur reduction for clearer images, even with moving subjects. For the first time in the 4-series, Multi Camera Temporal Filtering (MCTF) is built into the hardware, which provides noise reduction for high-quality videos.
The platform also includes exciting new AI enhancements, such as an AI-based low-light feature for crisp, detailed images in dim environments. It also has AI-enhanced background noise removal to ensure clear audio during calls and video recordings in busy environments.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is powered by the Snapdragon X61 5G Modem-RF System, which delivers fast speeds and supports more networks, frequencies, and bandwidths globally. It also features Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5, a robust solution that provides strong Wi-Fi connectivity for gaming, streaming, and other activities.
According to Matthew Lopatka, director of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the Snapdragon 4-series is dedicated to driving innovation while meeting the requirements of OEMs and the wider industry, providing users with greater access to the most popular and relevant mobile features and capabilities, and optimizing their experiences.
Key OEM brands, including Redmi and vivo, are expected to adopt Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, and commercial devices powered by the platform are anticipated to be announced in the latter half of 2023.
