If you do remember our previous post where we pointed out the version differences between the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipsets available then things are going to get even more difficult. This is because of the fact that Qualcomm has now announced a new variant of the Snapdragon 855 chipset. This one’s known as the Snapdragon 855 plus.

In December 2018, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform. Which is currently the most powerful chip designed by Qualcomm for smartphones and tablets. In the past six months or so, we have seen it appear in many flagship phones; in addition, we have also seen the Snapdragon 855 appear in phones like Red Magic 3 and Black Shark 2 which are meant exclusively for gaming.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus tech specs

Today, Qualcomm announced the launch of the Snapdragon 855 Plus mobile platform. Compared with the Snapdragon 855, the Snapdragon 855 Plus has mainly made two upgrades:

On the CPU core side, the CPU’s large core (Kryo 485 CPU) clock speed has been increased from 2.84GHz to 2.96Ghz.

On the GPU side, it is still rocking the Adreno 640, but the performance has increased by 15%.

It is known that the Snapdragon 855 Plus can support higher performance and has leading game experience. Talking about AI, the fourth generation of multi-core artificial intelligence engine AI Engine can bring a faster response. It brings support for more than 7 trillion operations per second (7TOPs ), enabling proprietary programmable AI acceleration.

In addition, by connecting the XR headphone to a mobile terminal equipped with the Snapdragon 855 Plus and the Opteron X50 5G modem, users can easily enjoy the immersive XR experience (AR/VR experience) and get a fast and smooth 5G experience.

Finally, the Qualcomm officials said that the devices equipped with the Snapdragon 855 Plus are expected to be available in the second half of 2019.
