The microphone is a very use case-specific device. This means that you have different microphones for working on different projects. But Rode’s new VideoMic NTG is not only a set-top microphone, but also can be used as a hanging microphone, an external microphone for a mobile phone, or even a computer connected microphone via USB. It is a Swiss army knife for the microphone industry. A one size fits all solution.
The VideoMic NTG model is similar to the broadcast-grade pointing microphone NTG5 released last month. The housing uses a circular open pickup hole. The internal pressure gradient electret capacitor has a frequency range of 20Hz-20kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio of 79 dBA, and a dynamic range of 105dB. SPL, a sampling depth of 24bit and sampling frequency of 48kHz.
It also comes with infinite variable gain control, high-pass filter supports 75Hz, 150Hz two modes, heart-shaped pointing. The weight of this microphone is only 94 g. VideoMic NTG has 3.5mm audio interface and USB Type-C interface. The former supports automatic sensing output, can automatically switch TRS and TRRS interfaces and is more convenient to switch between smartphones and cameras. USB Type-C interface can also be used for charging. It can also output audio signals to computers and tablets, and has a 3.5mm audio output interface on the microphone for external monitoring headphones.
VideoMic NTG has a built-in lithium battery. The battery life is around 30 hours, charging time is only 2 hours. It comes standard with Lyre patented shock mount, windshield, USB cable accessories. It will be listed before Christmas, the Chinese price for this microphone would be 1795 yuan (around 18.3K INR). If you want to use the VideoMic NTG as a voice-over microphone, you need to buy your own extension.
