Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 Hands on Review, Specs and Price

Samsung recently announced the Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 edition and this smartphone is unique in many ways apart from being a nice budget device. It has a special S-Bike mode which will help a lot of bikers in their daily commute.

It would be available exclusively on Snapdeal and it would have a reward program by Freecharge which would help people stay motivated with the program! This project was done and executed completely in India and that’s a great push for the Make in India initiative.

Performance and hardware:

The Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 comes with a Spreadtrum chipset, a 1.5 GHz Quad Core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage. It comes with Android 5.1.1 out of the box and works well with all the latest applications. The memory management with this phone was also decent even with 1.5 GB of RAM.

Build and Display:

The phone comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display and it does feature bright colors and good viewing angles. The display also has an Outdoor viewing mode which increases the brightness to nice levels for viewing outside.

The phone sports a design reminiscent of the other phones in the Samsung Galaxy series and the back has a faux leather finish. It has a speaker grill on the back close to the camera and has a micro USB port for charging/data transfer.

It comes with a 2600 mAh removable battery and also offers microSD card expansion for storage up to 128 GB this is a dual sim 4G LTE device so using the latest networks won’t be much of a hassle.

Samsung Galaxy J3 2016: Camera

The Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 comes with an 8 MP primary camera and a 5 MP secondary camera and it does capture decent shots. You can see the camera samples and shooting modes in our detailed camera hands-on in our hands-on video of the same device.

Seen below is an HD video sample taken from the primary camera. The device is capable of only shooting up to 720p HD video so that’s a bummer.

User experience:

The S-bike application does work really well and for a detailed in-depth experience do watch our hands-on review video at the end of this post. It comes with a light version of Touch Wiz and thus the user experience while using this device wasn’t that bad.

The device retails for a price of INR 8990 and is an OK device for this price.
