Recently the DxOMark website came with an update with the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G marking its first entry on the site. One of the noticeable changes was the fact that the S10 5G has tied with the Huawei P30 Pro as the best smartphone camera on the basis of DxOMark score.
According to the official website of DxOMark, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is a new high-end version of the S10 series smartphones which have been out since some time.
Samsung Galaxy S10 5G specifications include a 6.7″ 3040*1440px HDR10+ certified AMOLED display. It has 8GB of RAM, 256/512GB of storage.
The primary camera setup on this phone has a 12MP camera with a variable aperture and a 16 MP super wide angle lens. It also sports a 12MP telephoto lens. When compared to the normal S10 model, the S10 5G comes with a time of flight sensor in order to better assist with video applications and augmented reality apps.
According to the overall score presented the selfie camera on the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is better than almost any of the other competitors till date and even better than their own Samsung Galaxy S10 plus by one point.
Samsung S10 5G Camera specifications:
It has four camera settings, including dedicated TOF sensors.
Main lens: 12MP sensor, 1.4?m pixel and 26mm equivalent, f / 1.5-2.4 aperture lens with dual pixel AF and OIS support.
Ultra wide-angle lens: 16MP sensor 1.0?m pixel and 13mm equivalent, f / 2.2 aperture lens.
Telephoto lens: 12MP sensor, 1.0?m pixel and 52mm equivalent, f / 2.4 aperture lens with PDAF and OIS support.
2160p 4K video at 60fps and default 4K video at 30fps.
Please note: The camera firmware for DxOMark testing is not currently available to consumers. Samsung will release this software as an OTA update by the end of this month.
The overall DxOMark Mobile score of the Samsung S10 5G is 112 points, ranking first with the Huawei P30 Pro and achieving the highest score so far. Samsung’s photo score is 2 points behind Huawei, mainly due to the P30 Pro equipped with a 5x telephoto lens; however, the S10 5G video score is of 100 points which easily makes up for the gap.
S10 5G has shown the biggest improvement in low light handheld shooting and hence the higher video scores. We will keep on updating this article as and when we get more information on this topic!
As we have already tested the Huawei P30 Pro in the recent past one thing is clear. It’s video capabilities are nothing to write home about. Hence it’s safe to say that the S10 5G might have the best all-around camera on a smartphone till date.
