Samsung Galaxy S5 can be easily described as the next level of Samsung. Its evolution. Everything is larger, everything is bigger, everything is clearer, everything is brighter, and best of all, everything is quicker.

The specs only enhance its beauty. It hasn’t actually happened till now, the S5 has sold pretty low numbers! 😛 )

The device was expected to be game changer for Samsung but it actually didn’t match up to all the high expectations, nonetheless it’s a pretty solid device and for the price for which it is retailing these days it’s worth it! Read the full post for our Samsung Galaxy S5 review.

One of the best things about Samsung Galaxy S5 is that it is designed considering the consumer who will use the device rather than the critics, the camera is easier to use and clicks better pictures, the design is premium and looks great and one can feel at ease while using a Samsung device.

The price point at which it was released in the US was also, despite being high, cheaper than its contemporaries. The phone may not have one big grand feature or innovation but it certainly has upgraded or evolved around everything it has. This is a big thing for a company that was mocked last year for mindless innovation.

To be honest, the design is not so inspiring. The body is plastic. One thing that confuses me most is when the brands like Apple, Sony Xperia, HTC, and even Lumia have moved to full metallic and aluminum casing, why in the world is Samsung still sticking with plastic?

It’s not that S5 is not good looking, the device looks much better than S4, but when your competition is against the likes of the iPhone 6, you ought to make things better. Though one good thing is there, even with the 5.1 inches screen, the device is proportioned well.

It does not look too big and you can use the device well and good with a single hand too. The color options are good, with the exception of white, it looks too medical to look at, but still normal users can manage.

The home screen button, which also acts as the Fingerprint scanner, is well-placed and looks good. The device is waterproof with IP67, which means, you can put it into water for a while and nothing will happen, though taking it for a dive is still not advisable. It is also dust resistant, so the open headphone jack won’t bother you. USB 3.0 jack slot is also present in the device.

Overall, the design is just above average.

Key features

Samsung Galaxy S5 review : Key features.

S- Health
On the backside of S5, just beneath the camera, there is a Heart rate Monitor.
The S Health app is there for the one who likes to keep a check on their health. It will record all your activities throughout the day to give you understandable data.

The pedometer is quite frankly useless, you need to stick your phone to the thighs to make it work, and it’s not as accurate as those wearables and Smartwatches are.

The S Health app is more of a novelty than a important feature. There’s not much use for it if you’re not a heart patient and requires regular updates. It’s also not much accurate and can’t replace the original health devices.  You won’t be using it in a more purposeful way than to bet on who got the lowest heart rate in the group.

Fingerprint scanner
The Fingerprint scanner on the home is not a new thing in smartphones, but the placement of the scanner and its accuracy makes it cool.

The scanner is not so greatly accurate as in the case of Apple but nonetheless, it’s second best in the market. Also, the placement is nice, one of the devices with a Fingerprint scanner placed on the backside which makes it impossible to use sometimes.

The screen in Galaxy is simply its best feature overall.
The super AMOLED 5.1 inches touchscreen is one of the best in the market. The 1920×1080 screen is made up of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and gives 432 ppi pixel density. The brightness is magnificent and pictures and videos look breathtaking on this screen.

Watching videos on Samsung devices has always been a pleasurable experience and the tradition just continues with the S5 too. S5 gives solid competition to all other brands when it comes to the screen department and we’re sure you’ll like it too.

Though the S5 was released with Android Kitkat, it’s rumored to receive the update to the latest version of Android the Lollipop, in the month of December.

We have already covered the Lollipop earlier so we won’t talk much about it here but We have some pictures to show you how it will supposedly look on the Galaxy S5.

The phone retails for around 33k INR in the local market and online it is around 36K INR.

Lollipop is now on Samsung Galaxy S5

If you notice That subtle animation on Android Lollipop, which is part of Google’s new Material design user interface for Android. Android Lollipop which is the next level of Android looks great on the S5, Samsung has hinted that it will update both the Note 4 and Galaxy S5 with Lollipop in December, so you can expect this coming soon.

Samsung Galaxy S5 technical Specs easy to digest roundup

The S5 features a Snapdragon 801 CPU which is Quad-core and is of 2.5 GHz. It also features an Adreno 330 GPU. The device is seriously powerful and the Snapdragon also helps in saving the battery by making the phone more efficient.

S5 has 2 GB of RAM for running all your apps efficiently and 16/32 GB of inbuilt memory to save all your media. But if you like to carry your HD videos with you in your phone then here’s the good news, S5 supports up to 128 GB of External memory for all your needs.

The Camera in S5 is a very powerful 16 Megapixel one with LED Flash and autofocus and face detection. The quality of pictures taken is excellent and You can record HD videos of 30 fps with the rear camera too.

And for your selfies and video chats, there’s one on the front of 2 Megapixel too. Both the cameras are excellent. You can also do dual video chat with both cameras working simultaneously.  The camera is full of features and gives excellent results.

The battery in the S5 is simply, the best you can get. You need not read any further, it’s just as amazing as it can get. The Li-Ion 2800 mAh battery is removable too, just the cherry on the cake.

The Galaxy S5 is a great phone features-wise. The battery, the screen, and the camera are its plus points. Though this is not a revolutionary piece of technology it is evolutionary, it evolves from its current self and improves the basic where it is needed.

There may be many feature-rich phones in the market but the overall packaging of the S5 is superior. My only wish is, if the body and design were a little better then it could have been the best phone in the market but as they say, it is impossible to please everyone.

But rest assured, you will love this device, for it is designed considering the consumer and will please everyone with at least something.
