Samsung Prepares One UI 6 Watch Update Based on Wear OS 5

Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch update, based on Wear OS 5, is set to improve battery life and introduce new features in June 2024.

On May 25, Samsung’s Korean website listed the One UI 6 Watch beta (via @theordysm), hinting at an imminent release.

Samsung began developing the One UI 6 Watch update earlier this month, based on Google Wear OS 5, with testing expected in the coming weeks.

In June 2023, Samsung released the One UI 5 Watch beta based on Wear OS 5. Thus, it is anticipated that the One UI 6 Watch beta will be available to eligible Galaxy Watch devices in early June 2024.

Reports indicate that Wear OS 5, based on Android 14, includes an improved nap mode for better battery life.

Google claims smartwatches with Wear OS 5 can extend battery life by 20% during marathons. Additionally, Samsung’s Watch Face Format will be the default watch face format.

Other features include password support, cloud password recovery, and a simpler login experience. Samsung may also add exclusive features to Galaxy watches via One UI 6 Watch.
