Reputed tech publication 9to5 Mac reported that Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone in less than three months. The iPhone 13 or iPhone 12s has not yet been announced, but a new report from TrendForce today has more insights into the new iPhones coming this fall. Starting with the production of the iPhone 13 series, TrendForce predicts that due to the increase in vaccines and the imminent relaxation of the blockade in the United States and Europe, the output of the iPhone 13 series will reach 223 million units. In addition, Apple is expected to benefit from Huawei's abandonment of some high-end smartphone market shares, and sales of new iPhone devices in the second half of 2021 may be boosted. According to the report, "Apple will prioritize optimizing existing features with the iPhone 13 series (or iPhone 12s), and the retail price is expected to be consistent with the iPhone 12 series models released last year." As pointed out in previous reports, Apple is expected to narrow the notch at the top of the screen and launch four new models again: iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, this report calls the next iPhone the iPhone 12s series (or iPhone 13 series). TrendForce predicts that the prices of these iPhones will be the same as the previous generation models, starting at US$699. The iPhone 13 series will use the A15 chip manufactured by TSMC's 5nm + node, although Apple is already developing a 3nm processor. All new iPhone 13 models will include a flexible AMOLED panel, while the Pro model will use a 120Hz refresh rate. For those looking forward to a 1TB storage space option, TrendForce said that it is expected that the Apple iPhone 13 series will maintain the same memory capacity as the iPhone 12 series, up to 512GB, without a 1TB storage space option. In terms of cameras, Apple has upgraded the main camera of all iPhone 12s series (or iPhone 13 series) phones, including sensor shift image stabilization technology. For the Pro model, not only its ultra-wide camera is now equipped with a 6P lens (upgraded from the previous generation), but it can also achieve autofocus. It should be noted that LiDAR is only available in Pro models. These iPhones are expected to fully support 5G, accounting for about 39% of Apple's total annual production in 2021. Although we will see another mini model this year, Apple will focus on the regular model and two Pro versions. In addition, in view of the disappointing sales performance of the iPhone 12 mini (which will reach the end of life early in the second quarter of 2021) compared with other models in the iPhone 12 family, it is expected that Apple will focus on promoting the three non-mini phones in the iPhone 13 series.
