The report also states that Vivo is on track to export more than one million ‘Made in India’ smartphones in 2023, as part of its proposed 7500-crore investment plan. The company has already invested 2,400 crores and expects to invest a further 1,100 crores by the end of 2023.

The year 2023 marks the milestone of our 9-year journey in India. Since our inception, India has continued to be a strategic market for us. Backed by technologically advanced and innovative offerings, we have won the hearts of proud owners of 100 million Vivo smartphones, and have created a socio-economic impact on the lives of around 1.6 million Indians. The India Impact Report is a detailed description of our endeavours and our long-term vision to remain a vital contributor to India’s growth story.

Said, Mr Yogendra Sriramula, Head of Brand Strategy at Vivo India,

The report highlights Vivo’s commitment to creating a strong and self-sufficient smartphone ecosystem in India. Vivo is aligned with the government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, and 100% of Vivo’s motherboard assembly takes place in India. Additionally, Vivo procures 95% of its battery and 70% of its charger components locally. It is a notable thing that every Vivo smartphone that is sold in India is made in India.

Yogendra highlights Vivo’s efforts to develop the local value supply chain, expand manufacturing, and bridge the digital divide. These efforts demonstrate the company’s commitment to the Indian market and position it as a major player in the Indian smartphone ecosystem.

Additionally, Vivo has aligned with the Government of India’s vision to make the country a global export hub, and the company has exported its first shipment to Thailand and Saudi Arabia, with plans to export 1 million smartphones in 2023.

Vivo believes that increasing manufacturing capabilities is crucial to putting India on the global map, and expanding and growing its plant in India is a step in that direction. The second edition of the Vivo India Impact Report demonstrates the company’s unwavering commitment to India and its people, and it looks forward to growing alongside the nation.

The report underlines Vivo’s commitment to ‘Design in India’ as a key element of their future strategy in the country. They have created a dedicated team focused on industrial design and camera technology to better understand the specific needs of Indian users.

This approach has already yielded results, with the launch of the V27 series featuring a customized portrait mode designed specifically for Indian weddings.
