Volkswagen has revamped its California camper van, introducing a new model aimed at the European market, positioned between the Caddy California and Grand California.
This new variant offers a hybrid powertrain and an enlarged vehicle size, enhancing the internal space for more comfort.
The newly designed California camper van comes in five configurations:
Beach, Beach Tour, Beach Camper, Coast, and Ocean. Each model features a rooftop tent and dual sliding doors with mosquito nets.
Select markets will receive an optional new dual-side awning as standard equipment.
The vehicle’s interior has been redesigned for enhanced functionality and space. Instead of a rear bench, there are two separate seats that can still convert into beds, ensuring space for bicycles without compromising sleeping areas.
The Coast and Ocean models have repositioned kitchen units to facilitate easier entry and exit from both sides of the vehicle.
The kitchen is now external and comes equipped with a sink, a single-burner stove, and storage cabinets. Higher configurations like the Beach Camper include a permanently installed pull-out mini-kitchen with a gas stove and additional storage options.
The new California camper offers three powertrain options, similar to the Multivan series.
This includes a four-cylinder 150 HP turbocharged diesel, a 204 HP gasoline engine, both front-wheel drive, and a new plug-in hybrid system offering 4Motion all-wheel drive and 245 HP with a maximum towing capacity of 4409 pounds.
