On July 12, it was reported that users of Windows Server and Windows 11 were experiencing frequent crashes of the Remote Desktop Gateway service after installing Microsoft’s June optional updates and July cumulative updates.
According to the report affected systems include Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows 11, with issues surfacing post-update KB5040442.
Users, including a German individual named Roland, have reported remote desktop connection failures citing unsupported security device redirection.
Although adjusting the Remote Desktop Connection Authorization Policy (RD CAP) restores functionality, it compromises security.
This situation underscores the need for a prompt resolution from Microsoft to prevent continued disruption and potential security vulnerabilities.
