The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is one of the best mid-range devices present right now. After using it for nearly a month I can safely say that affordable Android devices have come a long way.
The only people who would need a flagship in today’s time and age are the ones who actually have a need for breakneck speeds. Everyone else can easily get by with mid-range smartphones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro which offers great value for money.
Often mid-range smartphones are better than their flagship counterparts in some aspects like battery life, the inclusion of a 3.5 mm jack, and a lot of other things that flagship smartphones take for granted.

Video Reviews
We already covered the Redmi Note 7 Pro in great detail on our YouTube channel and you can check out those videos below.
But since a long-term review unearths even more detail about a phone we tested it rigorously and found few chinks in the armor.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro-long-term review: Everything we missed the first time!
The Redmi Note 7 Pro does not have Carrier aggregation even if the hardware supports it. This feature is something that greatly improves the network speed.
The maximum 4G speeds are restricted because of the lack of LTE Plus. Hence this is something that can be easily fixed from the OEM side. But there’s still no official word on this as of yet.
GPS issues
This smartphone works well enough with Google Maps and navigation but sometimes the GPS signal is not located at all. This was particularly evident when playing something like Pokemon Go. The game refused to show the correct location most of the time. It even gave us a Driving mode warning even when we were standing still in the middle of a busy street.
The earpiece is not loud enough
The earpiece on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is great for taking calls and normal usage. But if you are in a crowded environment you would notice that the earpiece is simply not loud enough to cut through the crowd noise. Compared to something like the OnePlus 6T which we were using before, the experience is slightly mediocre.
MIUI ads
The MIUI recommendation ads are very annoying. They destroy what is essentially a super smooth and great experience. Though it’s possible to get rid of these ads it takes a little bit of an extra effort. We got rid of up to 99% of ads using a few online guides and would recommend anyone looking to use this device for long periods of time to do the same!
Competition
This device gets almost everything right in its price segment. But Samsung has few similarly priced devices with AMOLED displays in this range and they would be better suited for media consumption for a lot of people.
The Display could have been Better
Personally, we didn’t find any issues with the Note 7 Pro LCD display as it’s great. But for those who want to keep their choices open it won’t hurt to consider the competition for once.
Finally, we would like to conclude on the note that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is here to rule the budget segment for quite a long while until and unless some other company comes up with a more compelling product at a similar price.
Though it has its share of shortcomings they are nothing too glaring to overlook the merits that this phone does offer and hence it’s one of the best buys these days!
