YouTube intensifies its fight against ad blockers, causing videos to skip to the end for some users, even those without ad blockers.

Google YouTube Increases Efforts to Combat Ad Blockers; Users Report Videos Automatically Skip to End

May 28, 2024 – According to 9to5Google, some users have reported that when visiting YouTube with an ad blocker enabled, videos automatically jump to the end, making them unwatchable.

Users noted that after enabling ad blockers, videos would either skip to the end upon sequential playback or reloading. Additionally, some users experienced videos endlessly loading after skipping to specific parts. Once ad blockers were disabled, videos played normally.

Reports indicate that this issue primarily affects users with AdBlock installed, though a few users without ad blockers also experienced this problem. Back in April, YouTube’s crackdown on ad blockers extended to third-party applications, causing performance issues or error messages for users attempting to watch videos through ad-blocking apps.

The referenced report highlights that ad blockers can lead to performance issues and error messages, emphasizing that YouTube’s efforts against ad blockers have widened.
