Today Apple released the new 2019 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro 2019 version, equipped with the latest 8th and 9th generation Intel processors. The new MacBook Pro also features a modified keyboard design that upgrades the touch bar for the 13-inch MacBook Pro. And now Apple Keyboard Maintenance Plan has been updated for the MacBook Pro models!
Apple’s official website has now updated the keyboard service plan for MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. It lists the 2018 and 2019 MacBook Pro models.
Apple has determined that on some MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro models, a small number of keyboards may have one or more of the following conditions:
- Letters or characters are unexpectedly repeated
- Letters or characters do not appear
- Button feels sticky or button feedback is inconsistent
Apple or Apple Authorized Service Providers will provide free services for qualifying MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro keyboards. The type of service will be determined after checking the keyboard and may involve replacing one or more buttons or the entire keyboard.
Eligible models in the Keyboard Maintenance Plan for MacBook Pro
To identify the model of your computer and see if it meets the conditions of the program, choose Apple (?) > About This Mac. The eligible models are as follows.
- MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015)
- MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2016)
- MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017)
- MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019)
Note: Other Mac notebook models are not covered by this plan.
