Recent News: Microsoft Edge’s F12 Developer Tool Interface Gets a Streamlined Makeover in the 120 Stable Version!
Microsoft recently rolled out the Edge 120 stable version, accompanied by a revamped design for the Edge DevTools developer tools interface. This interface can be accessed using the F12 shortcut key.
In a recent blog post, Microsoft highlighted the various changes and improvements made to Edge DevTools. The development team initiated the redesign process around two years ago, aiming to simplify the user interface for enhanced usability and ease of learning.
Several design elements have already been introduced in previous versions of DevTools, such as a new welcome tool and a convenient “More Tools” button. Furthermore, developers now have greater flexibility in moving tools between the top and bottom toolbars.
One of the standout features of Edge DevTools, introduced in the stable version 120, is the “Activity Bar.” This innovative addition streamlines each tool into a single icon, displaying the tool name when sufficient space is available or on mouseover.
The right side of the activity bar is now less cluttered, as error, warning, and problem icons now appear directly on the corresponding tool icon. Microsoft has also reorganized the Customize, Feedback, and Settings icons into two menu items.
Additionally, the “Activity Bar” can be switched to a vertical display mode, resembling web page tabs, which optimizes screen space. Have you noticed this exciting change?
