Xiaomi has had a long history of making smartphones which are affordable as well as great quality at the same time. Their products have some of the best specifications and the MIUI experience is one of the few refined Android skins that I would prefer alongside stock Android. So it’s naturally expected from us tech geeks when we start jumping in joy as soon as the news of any Xiaomi smartphone launch hits the market. This time it’s the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro. The device is yet to be officially launched. The Redmi 6 pro and the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 were to be announced tomorrow but the listings on Xiaomi Mall are already live.
On Xiaomi Mall the smartphone is being promoted as a “1000 Yuan Flagship”. For those of you are unfamiliar with Yuan then it’s roughly around $154 or around INR 10,450. This pricing pits it against so many other existing Xiaomi smartphones in the same pricing segment. Insert “FacePalm” here.
The listing is official right now, and you can check it here.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 pro specifications:
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 pro has a 5.84-inch IPS LCD display. It has a resolution of 2280*1080p. It sports an aspect ratio of 19:9 which is due to this phone’s notch style of display.
The phone has a maximum brightness of 500 nits and the display has got rounded corners, something that I personally like a lot! It has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and covers up to 84% NTSC colour gamut. The notch present on the top can be hidden using software-based black bars. Though we all can agree that it’s not the most elegant solution.
Inside this smartphone still packs in a Snapdragon 625 chipset running at a clock speed of 2 GHz. Xiaomi has overused the 625 right now and should look towards newer options. The Redmi 6 pro has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage for the top model. Apart from this, there are 4 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM and 3 GB RAM & 32 GB ROM storage variants also available.
The phone also has a dedicated microSD card slot which supports upto 256 GB of expandable storage.
Xiaomi has never been able to successfully nail the camera department apart from two phones till now. The Mi A1 and the Redmi Note 5 pro are amongst the only two Xiaomi smartphones which managed to impress us in the camera department.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 pro camera info and samples
There’s the now staple dual camera setup on the back of the phone. The primary camera has a 12 MP main sensor with 1.25um pixel size with phase detection autofocus and another 5 MP sensor for depth sensing info. Xiaomi has claimed that they are using AI on the Redmi 6 pro for obtaining a more realistic background blur.
The selfie camera has a 5 MP sensor and a portrait mode which works on AI. There’s also support for Face unlock feature using the front camera. An 8 MP sensor would have been great and it feels like Xiaomi has cut corners here to keep pricing tight!
Here are some of the official camera samples from the Redmi 6 Pro, but you should wait till we get our hands on this device and update this post with some real world camera samples!
The Redmi 6 pro has a 4000 mAh battery and high capacity batteries have become a regular on most of the Xiaomi phones. This is also a welcome move as the Redmi 5 and Redmi 6 had lesser battery capacities.
Xiaomi Redmi 6 pro pricing and other info
The pricing is going be competitive at around 999 Yuan (around INR 10500) for the 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM model. For the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM model, it’s around 1299 YUAN i.e. around INR 13500.
It’s expected to launch soon in India as Xiaomi has started to cash in on it’s brand value by launching lots of smartphones in the budget segment now.
So are you excited for the Xiaomi Redmi 6 pro? Or do you think that it’s just another phone launched by Xiaomi to expand it’s lineup of budget smartphones!
