Asus Official Website Leaks AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 Processor: Features 12 Cores and 24 Threads with 77 TOPS AI Computing Power
On May 7th, the Asus official website inadvertently disclosed details about the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 processor, a next-generation mobile processor utilizing the Zen 5 architecture named Strix Point.
Here are the specifications:
- Model: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX170
- Specifications include 12 cores and 24 threads with a 36MB cache.
- The maximum boost clock is 5.1GHz.
- AI computing power is rated at 77 TOPs.
- Integrated graphics details are yet to be disclosed but it features AMD Radeon graphics.
- NPU is based on XDNA architecture, offering 45 TOPs of AI computing power.
The new processor is integrated into the Asus Vivobook S 16 OLED (M5606) laptop, which maintains similar configurations to models featuring the Ryzen 8040 series processor.
The details are as follows:
- Display: 16-inch 3.2K 120Hz OLED display, 500 nits HDR brightness
- Memory: 32GB LPDDR5X onboard
- Storage: 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD
- Ports include USB4, a full-function USB-C at 5Gbps, two USB-A ports also at 5Gbps, HDMI 2.1 YMDS, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Strix Point processors will not be branded under the “Ryzen 8050” series, indicating AMD’s departure from naming conventions used since the Ryzen 7000 series of mobile processors, moving towards a new naming strategy.
