Recently, on April 22, ROG and Tencent launched the ROG 7 series of gaming phones in China and the worldwide launch happened some time ago already. These devices are equipped with the second-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship processor.
As per the latest update, they are planning to release a revised model in August this year, called “ROG 7D,” which will feature MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ as the processor. The Dimensity 9200+ processor will be officially released next month and will use TSMC’s 4nm process.
The CPU for this one will use a 1+3+4 three-cluster architecture design. This will include 1 X3 super core, three A715 cores, and four A510 small cores. The super large core and large core will both support 64-bit applications, making the response speed faster.
Recently, AnTuTu leaked the benchmark score information of the chip, and it scored a super high score of 1.33 million points, which is almost thirty thousand points higher than the previous top scorer. As a result, the second-generation Snapdragon 8 might be trumped by this one with ease.
Apart from the performance upgrade, other features of the ROG 7D are mostly similar to the ROG 7 series. The device is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED gaming screen with a resolution of 2448×1080, an aspect ratio of 20.4:9, and a pixel density of 394PPI.
The device will support a 165Hz refresh rate and is expected to come with a 720Hz touch sampling rate. It’s also expected to come with HDR10+ and the protection for the display will be 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Regarding heat dissipation, the ROG 7D has a matrix liquid-cooled heat dissipation architecture 7.0 and an SoC mid-mounted architecture that dissipates heat evenly and quickly. This feature helps in making the device’s performance output more durable and powerful.
