Gionee ELife E8 Hands on Review, Initial Impressions

Gionee recently launched its Flagship device, Gionee ELife E8 to be neck to neck in the smartphone market with its competitors. Let’s have a look at whether this phone will stand out or be lost in the swarming crowd of smartphones.

Design and Display:

The fingerprint scanner and a sleek minimalist design are the first impressions that you will have of Elife E8. At the front, the device consists of a front camera placed on the right-hand side.

Right, next to it there is a speaker grill and an LED notification panel. At the back side, there is a round fingerprint scanner that takes about 0.5 seconds to recognize your print and it turns out, to be 99% accurate, and a rear camera with a flash.

There is a massive 6–inch AMOLED QHD display and a 491 PPI density. This makes the device pretty bulky no matter how thin it looks. Also, a 6-inch display makes it hard to use the phone with one hand only. The display quality is pretty good, though, thanks to the 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution.

Software and Performance:

Gionee Elife E8 is packed with a MediaTek MT6795 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM which provides ample space and above-average performance. The device runs on Android 5.1, giving a great UI and customization options to the user.

Elife E8 has 64GB memory which is expandable up to 128GB. The company has also updated its UI and calls it Amigo 5.1, which gives you a near-perfect UI experience.

Now, when it comes to performance, Elife E8 is about above average. Hardly any lags were faced when we tried to multitask and played games. The only problem was the heating of the device, that too at a very slow rate but worth noticing when games were played for a really long time. But the problem is not that much.

Camera:

Keeping in mind the upcoming trend of camera-centric devices, Gionee Elife E8 comes loaded with a 24 MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The back camera can scale your images to 120MP using software optimization.

The focus is extraordinary, at 0.08-0.2 seconds and the shutter speed is at 0.3 seconds. Also, the lens is sapphire crystal. No wonder when it comes to Camera, E8 surely falls in the category of a flagship device.

Battery:

With a massive 3520maH battery, the phone runs for 24 hours straight. The power consumption management and fast charge also help you in charging your phone up to 100% in less than 2 hours!
