At present, the Hongmeng/Ark OS’ work in progress has not been officially confirmed by Huawei. On the 10th, a report from some Russian media revealed for the first time that Huawei’s Android “backup” operating system is not based on the original thing they were working on. But based on predecessors i.e. OS that has already existed before. This is a piece of great news because then Huawei won’t have to reinvent the wheel!

Huawei Aurora OS plans!
The report quoted two sources as saying that Huawei executives had discussed the use of Aurora (Aurora) OS made in Russia.
Aurora OS is a mobile operating system developed in Russia. Based on the open-source Sailfish OS (Sailfish). It can be thought of as a branch of Sailfish OS. Due to its privacy and security, it has been recommended by the Russian government as a government and government-backed companies’ OS.
As for the Sailfish OS, it is based on Linux and Nokia’s MeeGo platform. The development team members mainly come from Nokia before switching to Microsoft, which was called Jolla.
The road ahead for Huawei!
According to reports, Huawei has already begun testing Aurora OS on devices.
Based on this news alone, it is impossible to judge the relationship between Aurora OS and Hongmeng/Ark. Is this Huawei’s Plan C? Interestingly, there are two blog posts on Jolla’s official website. The content is that CEO Sami Pienimäki talks about Huawei’s use of Android and that there will be a chance for Sailfish OS.
In addition, Jolla has worked with Sony to create a customised Sailfish X system for Xperia phones, and even released a ROM package for some models (such as Xperia X) for some testing and it is compatible with Android apps.
