India’s expanding gaming industry has been propelled by a combination of factors, including the country’s vast youth population, increased accessibility to affordable technology, and higher disposable incomes.
According to the State of India Gaming report, the gaming market in India was valued at USD 2.6 billion in FY 2022 and is predicted to grow at an annual rate of 27% to reach USD 8.6 billion by 2027.
The India Gaming Conclave 2023 was a platform that brought together prominent leaders and stakeholders from the industry to discuss the future roadmap of the gaming industry in India, with a particular focus on 5G adoption, cloud gaming, gamification, e-sports tournaments, and mobile gaming devices.
The event was supported by a range of industry partners, including MediaTek, OnePlus, Gamezop, Bright Data, Clear Trust, and All India Gaming Federation. During the interactive sessions, industry experts from companies such as JUNGLEE Games, PENTA Esports, Gamezop, MYFAB11, VIDA World, RELIANCE GAMES, Bright Data, GAMELOFT, XR Central, LOCO, PlayCKC, STAN, Upthrust Esports, and All India Gaming Federation shared their insights and expertise on various topics such as cloud gaming, 5G, e-sports, investments, gaming infrastructure, and the role of brands.
Anuj Sidharth, Deputy Director of Marketing & Corporate Communications at MediaTek India, expressed his appreciation for the India Gaming Conclave, stating that it served to define the Indian gaming landscape and set a course for the rapidly growing sector.
As the fastest-growing industry in India, mobile gaming continues to be one of the focus areas for MediaTek, and they are working to support newer innovations and developments in MediaTek HyperEngine Gaming Technologies available in MediaTek Dimensity and MediaTek Helio G-series of chipsets.
Nitin Goel, Country Manager – India Subcontinent at Gameloft, described the gaming industry in India as a baby full of exuberance and energy, exploring new avenues every passing day and minute. He acknowledged that the Indian gaming market is unique and requires solutions of its own.
He expressed his confidence that smarter players in the industry would be able to make a distinct mark and show the world what makes the right play for this market.
Gaurav Agarwal, Co-Founder of Gamezop, said that this was the second year in a row that Gamezop had associated with the India Gaming Conclave, and this year’s edition had been incredibly fruitful.
He emphasised the importance of exploring avenues like these to connect with game developers, and he acknowledged that many developers have been actively seeking alternative methods of monetisation beyond ads and in-game purchases.
Ninad Chhaya, Senior Vice President at Reliance Games, expressed his excitement about the future of the gaming industry, stating that advancements in technology and an ever-expanding global audience promise a thrilling journey for gaming companies and gamers worldwide.
He acknowledged that the gaming landscape is set to redefine entertainment, providing boundless excitement and unlocking new realms of imagination.
Shrey Mishra, Co-Founder of XR Central, highlighted the potential of the latest handheld devices and XR headsets, combined with the rollout of 5G, to usher in the next generation of immersive gaming.
He described the creator economy and community-powered games as the next wave that will take the immersion and engagement to the next level.
Finally, Aman Khanna, Founder & Director of Konnect Worldwide Business Media, expressed his appreciation for the support of the industry in creating a power-packed gaming event that congregated the entire gamut of the gaming ecosystem on a single platform.
He emphasized the importance of such events in empowering industry leaders to interact, connect, and exchange ideas, thereby leading to a positive change in the industry.
