On June 26, 2023, L&T Technology Services (NSE: LTTS), a prominent engineering services company, announced its strategic partnership with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to facilitate and drive global enterprises in their private 5G network deployments. With the goal of accelerating digital transformation for enterprises, BSNL and LTTS plan to co-innovate and bring to market private 5G connectivity solutions.
As per the agreement framework signed by both companies, BSNL will provide the spectrum using both PLMN or isolated allotment, while LTTS will anchor the private network requirements by deploying equipment, applications, servers, technology, and software, and core for the integration of devices and sensors within the customer’s ecosystem.
This partnership marks LTTS’ entry into the 5G private network space, and the company will take on the role of a master system integrator for customers, offering a choice of technologies, equipment, and use case buildout. Meanwhile, BSNL will be the official network provider.
According to IDC, the global private 5G market is expected to exceed $8 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 35.7% from 2022. India is witnessing an increasing need for enterprises to deploy a Non-Public Network (NPN) due to faster connection speeds and lower latency.
As enterprise needs become more focused on network modernization for security, the adoption of Captive Non-Public Networks or CNPNs has increased. Enterprise 5G will aid in unleashing the full potential of Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and the Internet of Things across healthcare, education, manufacturing, and smart cities.
Amit Chadha, CEO and Managing Director of L&T Technology Services stated that partnerships enabling the expansion of technology usage across industries in the Industry 4.0 era are believed to be crucial. Private Enterprise Networks enabled by 5G are a major step towards facilitating such a transformation.
He expressed excitement about partnering with BSNL to support the growth of sustainable and smart spaces through joint private networks and digitization. This partnership is a suitable offering to enterprises with complementary networks and digital capabilities from both organizations.
BSNL mentioned that the strategic partnership with LTTS would allow them to support global organizations in their digital transformation endeavours. They expect the rapid adoption of private networks across multiple use cases and major industries, as 5G is the next Big Enabler that can positively benefit the lives of millions of end-users.
