According to the current progress of Microsoft, the Windows 10 Version 20.04 major update has been prepared to the late stage. It is expected to be released around May this year, and the new system will have a lot of improvements in fluency.
It is reported that in the Windows 10 Version 2004 feature update, Microsoft will introduce a new version of the Windows Display Driver Model. It is a graphics-driven architecture for the graphics drivers of Windows devices, and the new feature update will include WDDM version 2.7,
WDDM 2.7 introduces another new feature called “hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling” for integrated and discrete graphics. Unfortunately, AMD Radeon is not currently supported due to the lack of internal drivers.
Windows 10’s hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling feature enables video cards (such as Intel UHD Graphics 620 and Nvidia GeForce 1060) to directly manage their video memory. With new GPU capabilities, Microsoft is committed to improving video playback performance and reducing latency on supported hardware.
In addition, Windows 10 version 2004 comes with a new algorithm that can detect excessive disk usage and other performance issues. If a performance issue is detected, Windows 10 may limit search index activity to reduce the chance of slowing down.
Microsoft says it will stop the Windows Search Indexer service when CPU usage exceeds 80% and disk usage exceeds 70%. When the game mode is on or the device’s battery is less than 50%, the service is also disabled to resolve complaints about excessive CPU and disk usage in the operating system.
