According to tech publication Digitalcameraworld’s report, Nikon is going to release a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera soon. It’s expected to be equipped with a Sony IMX 455 61 megapixel sensor.
According to reports, Nikon has signed an agreement to purchase Sony’s latest 61-megapixel IMX455 image sensor. Digitalcameraworld speculates that it appears that the Nikon Z8 will use the same sensor as Sony’s new high-resolution camera i.e. the Sony A7RIV.
It is reported that Sony officially replaced Nikon earlier this year, becoming the second in the market for interchangeable lens cameras (after Canon). A lot of reputed tech media have speculated that Nikon is making a comeback and competing with Sony through the acquisition of Sony’s latest technology.
Not long ago, Sony also released the latest ? 7R IV mirrorless camera which came equipped with a 61-megapixel sensor. It retails for a price of around INR 2.5 Lakh and is a full-frame mirrorless camera with up to 4k 30p 8-bit internal recording.
So guys what do you think? Would Nikon be able to use Sony’s sensor and still offer better video recording capabilities and other features when compared to Sony? That’s something that’s still to be seen and is a matter of great speculation. If they are able to offer anything above 4k 30p in video recording or offer 10bit internal video recording then users would definitely be excited about this camera. The pricing strategy and lens availability would also determine whether these guys would be able to make a dent in the consumer camera market or not!
