Apple Inc. announced at today’s “Let’s Fly” event that the new iPad Pro and Air models, as per the official website information, do not support the second-generation Apple Pencil released in 2018.
The devices only support the Apple Pencil Pro and the Apple Pencil with USB-C connectivity.
Previously reported by, the Apple Pencil with USB-C was released in November 2023.
This stylus boasts the same pixel-perfect precision, low latency, and tilt sensitivity as the earlier generations but lacks pressure sensitivity and does not support wireless charging. It is priced at 649 yuan.
Today’s newly released Apple Pencil Pro, which serves as an “upgraded version” of the second-generation Apple Pencil, includes pressure sensitivity and wireless charging capabilities.
It additionally features a “squeeze” pressure sensitivity and a haptic engine, allowing the use of a squeeze gesture to bring up tools, and includes a find feature. The domestic price is 999 yuan.
