On May 7, 2024, at the “Soar with Us” Apple event, significant updates for iPad users were unveiled. Apple introduced the Final Cut Pro 2 and Logic Pro 2 applications, tailored specifically for iPads.
Final Cut Pro 2 Features
Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad now supports external hard drive projects and a live multicam feature, allowing users to record from multiple angles using the new Final Cut Camera app on both iPhone and iPad.
This app can control the video stream from each camera in real-time, with adjustments for white balance, focus, ISO, and shutter speed.
Apple claims that when paired with an M4 processor-equipped iPad Pro, Final Cut Pro 2 renders up to twice as fast as the M1 and supports four times the ProRes RAW video streams.
Additionally, the Mac version has been updated to Final Cut Pro 10.8, introducing new AI capabilities and organization tools for a more streamlined editing process.
Logic Pro 2 Innovations
The newly launched Logic Pro 2 for iPad comes with AI-driven features, including an AI-based session musician capability that responds to feedback.
The session bassist feature uses advanced AI and sampling technologies trained with top bassists, offering eight different styles and control options for complexity and intensity.
This version also introduces the ChromaGlow plugin, leveraging AI and the M-series chips to simulate well-known studio hardware mixing sounds, available in five saturation styles.
Availability and Pricing
The updates for both Final Cut Pro 2 and Logic Pro 2 will be available as free updates for existing users this spring.
New users can purchase the applications via the App Store at monthly or annual subscription rates, with a free one-month trial offered.
