According to 9to5mac, Apple plans to process some AI requests locally on devices and others on its cloud infrastructure. Local processing may be limited to the latest Apple devices like recent iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Apple also plans to develop a specialized AI model for the Apple Watch.

Upcoming AI features may include message and notification summaries, voice memo transcriptions, AI image editing, automatic message replies, and enhanced Safari and Spotlight searches.

Siri is also expected to get an overhaul, and generative AI will allow users to create new emoji variants in real time.

Gurman also mentioned that iOS 18 will integrate a chatbot powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman might appear in a WWDC video to announce this partnership.

Apple’s collaboration with Google on the Gemini project might also be ongoing.
